It is my great honor to serve as Ambassador for the Autoimmune Walk Campaign and I urge you to join me. Autoimmune disease affected my family in a terrible way when I lost my sister and best friend to lupus in 1998.
My sister, Heather, had symptoms like stiff joints, intense muscle pain, abdominal discomfort, fatigue and an inability to eat. Doctors were baffled when Heather’s misery escalated. And though she was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, lupus, it was too late. Since Heather’s death I have worked with the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) to raise awareness about lupus and other autoimmune diseases. Now I have an opportunity to invite you to join me in this effort through the Autoimmune Walk.
If you or a loved one is affected by an autoimmune disease, or if you are just compelled by the cause, now is your time to act. Walk with me and help us raise critical funding for research and patient services. Autoimmune diseases are a constant drain on our healthcare system. It is important to get them under control, to get proper treatment and – as soon as possible – a cure.
Now is your time to be empowered and engaged in the fight to eradicate autoimmune disease and alleviate the suffering it causes. Please join me by registering for one of our Walk locations or the Virtual Walk…and together we will step closer to a cure!
