Third Party Fundraisers Raise Over $100,000 for Massachusetts Nonprofit Organization

It Takes Three, a third party fundraising program developed by Blue Sky Collaborative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the ALS Association raised over $100,000 from January to May 2005.

Dedham; Westborough, MA (PRWEB)May 20, 2005 – It Takes Three, a third party fundraising program developed by Blue Sky Collaborative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the ALS Association raised over $100,000 from January to May 2005.

It Takes Three, www.ittakesthree.org, is expected to raise over $250,000 for the ALS Association MA Chapter in 2005, and to build a foundation for an ongoing third party fundraising and awareness building program.

ALS, also known as Lou Gerhig’s disease, is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder that afflicts over 30,000 nation-wide. It has no known cure or effective treatments. People diagnosed with ALS have a life expectancy of 2 to 5 years after diagnosis. The Massachusetts Chapter of the ALS Association works to fund research and provide needed services to ALS sufferers and their families in Massachusetts.

Third Party fundraising refers to any fundraising activity driven by an unpaid supporter of a nonprofit. The economic benefits of third party fundraising lie in the cost-effectiveness of volunteer run efforts and in fundraisers’ abilities to leverage their own personal network to support a cause.

In the first 5 months of 2005, several ALS Association supporters joined It Takes Three to run their own fundraising efforts on behalf of the Massachusetts Chapter, raising more than $100K. Supporters engaged in wide variety of Third Party fundraising. Some hosted their own events, others raised money while participating in sporting events, and some even sold books and jewelry to raise money to fight ALS.

Blue Sky Collaborative developed and administered the It Takes Three campaign which provided supporters with one-on-one coaching as well as comprehensive resource guides on how to put together a fundraising activity. Each supporter was also able to take their efforts online to sell tickets to events and accept online donations towards their effort.
